Luke Lee and friends just published a cool paper on fabricating biologically inspired arrays of microlenses reminiscent of insects’ compound eyes. You can read the news release here, or better yet, you can get the full article [pdf] from the Lee’s webpage (great images!). They also have a short review [pdf] from late last year describing related work.
